Mushandike College of Wildlife Management was established in 1981 and was officially opened by the Minister of Natural Resources. The institute is wholly owned and funded by the Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management Authority. The College is accredited by the Higher Education Examination Council of Zimbabwe. This is Zimbabwe’s prime examination Board which falls under the Ministry of Higher and Tertiary Education, Science and Development.
Since its establishment the college has trained many students under Wildlife Management . As a wildlife management college its aim is to produce highly trained wildlife managers and officers aimed in protecting and conserving wildlife and endangered species. Mushandike College is the only college in Zimbabwe that is located within a sanctuary hence it offers students with hands on experience and a typical safari environment. As the college is wholly owned by the Zimababwe Parks and Wildlife Management, the students can enjoy the facilities and experiences offered by other recreational and national parks, safari areas, sanctuaries and botanical gardens that are owned by the authority. The college has introduced new subjects like Information Communication Technology and Accounts.There are also short courses that the college offers.
Mushandike College of Wildlife Management is not just a college, it also offers other services like conference facilities, camping sites, lodges and sporting facilities to its guests.
