matusadona national park
Lion Country
Matusadona National Park gets its name from the rolling Matusadona hills that form part of its water rich landscape. It is flanked by Lake Kariba in the north and two perennial rivers, the Ume and the Sanyati.
This remote and rugged park is the first in Zimbabwe to fall under the African Parks mandate and covers 1470 square kilometers.
Matusadona National Park is a remote and beautiful wilderness area containing dense thickets, mopane woodlands and grasslands along the southern shore of Lake Kariba. The rugged landscape of the Zambezi escarpment offers excellent game viewing and bird watching with opportunities to see the big four (elephant, lion, buffalo and leopard), plains game such as impala and kudu; and vast birdlife diversity.
