In an effort to boast tourism in Hwange National Park, Wilderness Safaris is constructing a viewing platform at Dopi Pan. The platform is not the first one in Hwange as there are others at Nyamandlovu Pan, Nyambabvu Pan and others.
Platforms provide visitors with an elevated vantage point to observe animals without disturbing them. This is particularly helpful in areas with tall grass or dense vegetation where animals might be difficult to see from ground level. The elevated position allows photographers to capture better shots of wildlife, offering unobstructed views and reducing the chance of foreground elements blocking the animal.
Platforms can be used by researchers and park personnel to observe animal behavior, track populations, or monitor specific areas. The operators, like Wilderness Safaris, provided funding for conservation, which went into supporting the platform. The Brown Engineering Group was contacted by the Authority to build and install the view.
Unlike all the other platforms, the Dopi platform can boost revenue collection through its suitability for camping.
