PRINCIPAL VETERINARY OFFICER (D3)
Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced candidates for the above position which have become vacant within the Authority. The Incumbent will report to Chief Wildlife Veterinary Manager and based in Matusadona National Park on Secondment.
Duties (Responsibilities)
- Wildlife diseases surveillance
- Wildlife diseases prevention treatment and control
- Diseases surveillance, treatment, prevention and control at the Livestock and human interphase with wild animals
- Write up weekly, monthly and quarterly reports feeding into the department reports
- Provide required veterinary services to the Authority animals like dogs and horses ,
- Prescribing drugs as may be required by the Authority,
- Provide required veterinary expertise in captive breeding,
- Should also be responsible in diseases investigations and diagnosis like sample collections and also some laboratory procedures,
- Will also be responsible for capturing and translocation of wild animals as may be required by the Authority
- Should be responsible for pre import or export inspection activities of wild animals in collaboration with state veterinarians
- Responsible for relevant administrative duties of the department and any other assigned duties by the Authority,
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
- A Degree in Veterinary Sciences or a related field registered by the Zimbabwe Veterinary Council a must,
- A dangerous drug licence will be an added advantage
- Good analytical skills
- A Clean Class 4 drivers licence an added advantage
- Computer Literacy
